1st Critical Pedagogy Congress, “Critical Pedagogy as a Liberating Practice in the Face of a Humanitarian Crisis” The event was held between November 29 and December 1, 2024, with the theme... Birarada Association, TÖZ Publishing House and METU Alumni Association It was carried out in collaboration at the Vişnelik Facilities in Ankara.

The congress aimed to discuss how the pressures created by capitalist crises and social problems in the field of education could be overcome through a critical perspective. In panels, workshops, and collective sessions centered on liberation and agency in education, participants exchanged ideas on topics such as power relations in education systems, digitalization, social justice, and pedagogical transformation. Critical pedagogy explored ways to transform educational institutions from mere critiques of the existing structure into practices that enable the liberation of individuals. This gathering aimed to generate new partnerships and empowerment experiences in education through dialogical teaching, participatory learning, and collective practices.
